The teaching
Alexandre : Outstanding, one of the best I have come across. We were impressed by his energy and depth of his knowledge, the mixture of language learning and culture.
He has a very wide knowledge which he shared . Excellent, so generous and good at adapting teaching style and pace to individual needs Personality, warmth, humour all together. Inspiring, amusing, confidant
Spontaneous use of French is difficult for me, but the teaching and its insistence on pronunciation as well as the total immersion have helped me to hear better which is where all the learning must start
Alexandre is an excellent teacher who knows how to keep attention focussed, never boring and offering a wide range of points to be considered.
He did over and above what was expected. Excellent very patient, very thorough, interesting lessons
Brigitte, charming, very friendly and a very good teacher
I learnt a lot about French culture as well as the French language.
I have been impressed with the amount of instruction in French and the wide opportunity we have all had in hearing and speaking French at meal times and during the visits to places of interest as well as the chance to converse with the visitors in the house. I feel that I have entered into the French way of life in a remarkably short space of time
The House
I found the house most attractive, informal, comfortable.Rooms kept immaculate
Very comfortable with excellent attention to detail, lots of hot water, very comfy beds
Beautiful house, great ambiance, enjoyed very much the relaxed atmosphere and freedom.
Super hostess
Superb tennis court
The Food
We all enjoyed the regional dishes so beautifully cooked and the conversation which went with them
Every meal excellent, not too heavy which I liked
Not only was everything we ate and drank of the highest quality but the atmosphere and convivality of meal times was an added bonus
What can I say, absolutely sublime
The repartee at the dinner table was remarkable and varied adding to the interest and enjoyment of the language and the evening a
The tours
I remember most the exposition on the history of winemaking, soils, grape varieties, the excellent talk by Sylvie in the garden of Bélingard, the sacrificial stone and the most memorable view of the week, the lofty sunlit interior of Périgueux cathedral, the wander through the narrow medieval streets.....and finally the caves at Lascaux
I have learned so much about
the region. Not only were the visits informative - the journeys
were enlivened by the running commentaries and the sights
en route
I can't find fault, the visits
were varied and enjoyable and we were truly spoiled in having
door to door transport and deference to wishes
Did it match expectations
and objectives ?
To me it achieved more than that. A deep insight into French culture , with the integration of lessons, visits and tours with the daily life in the house, the meals, the conversation....
More than met objectives
Over and above what I expected
Overall
Really excellent. My notebook has a wealth of new words and fresh ideas to work on in the days to come.
I enjoyed it enormously
An absolutely super week in every respect
Jane's informality and generosity were always evident. She is a brilliant hostess and quite unique
A most enjoyable week, varied in programme and visits, wonderful hosts who were responsive to the group
My admiration goes to Jane for her ability to make us feel at home, to welcome us so warmly and to respond to any individual requirements.
The best learning holiday I have had. Total immersion in the language was wonderful
