Holidays with French in the Dordogne

Our holidays are based at the Le Bourdil Blanc, a beautiful 18th century manor that has just about every facility one can imagine to keep people not only happy but ensure they have a simply fabulous time

We take great pains to foster a relaxed 'house party' atmosphere - with no fussing staff - and encourage everyone to treat the house as their own and enjoy it at their own pace and in their own way.

The daily programme comprises

For those who have come to learn French we offer the following:

Total immersion learning in small groups with formal morning lessons and then endless opportunity to practice throughout the rest of your stay
One half day wine tasting at a local well known vineyard in Bergerac where you will learn about and taste wine with the experts
• Visits to many local tourist sites in the Dordogne all discussed in French. An example of a typical week's itinerary is attached. The tours are optional. You can choose to stay at the Bourdil and relax if you wish
• Fabulous food and wine
• A convivial atmosphere which will provide you with the confidence to make progress, a key ingredient for successful language learning

For those partners or friends who are not learning French, aside from eating and drinking of course, you could, for example, just stay in bed all day ! Should you choose to venture out into the grounds, you will find a superb heated swimming pool, a tennis court, a charming lake stocked with carp, a designated trout stream (you will need to purchase a license locally to fish the stream), a croquet lawn and a beautiful meadow garden. (Rackets, balls and all manner of sporting equipment are all supplied).

Or should you fancy curling up in front of a real log fire with one of the hundreds of books in the huge living room you can do that too, in fact (since it is a house party) you could make yourselves completely at home and do as you wish.

For golfers there is a spectacular course nearby at the elegant Chateau des Vigiers . Designed by Donald Steel this 27-hole course meanders through vineyards and orchards, with stunning views, before returning to a cosy clubhouse with its excellent restaurant.

Non participants may wish to hire a car for the duration of the holiday to give you the chance to explore many historic and fascinating places nearby, whilst the others are having lessons, details of which are available at the house. In short your holiday at Le Bourdil Blanc is whatever you wish to make it.... although we do guarantee to supply a total French learning experience, fascinating exposés on local tourist sites, sensational food and wines, spectacular countryside and first and foremost the beauty of real peace and quiet.
